Terms of Service

Effective September 14, 2026 · Applies to PDFChest for iOS

PDFChest is a one-off app that runs entirely on your device. These terms are short because there is no account, no server, and no subscription to govern.

1. Acceptance

By downloading or using PDFChest you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use PDFChest on devices you own or control, for personal and internal business use. You may not redistribute, sell, rent, reverse-engineer, or attempt to derive the source code of the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it.

3. Your content

The documents you scan, import, and annotate remain yours. They never leave your device through the app, so the developer never receives, stores, or processes them and claims no rights over them. You are responsible for what you choose to store and for having the right to store it.

4. No purchases

PDFChest has no in-app purchases and no subscription. Nothing inside the app charges you, and there is no paid tier to manage or cancel.

5. Backups are your responsibility

Files are deliberately excluded from iOS backup and are stored only in the app sandbox. That is a privacy decision, and it has a consequence: deleting the app, erasing the device, or losing the device deletes your documents permanently. If a document matters, export a copy through the share sheet and keep it somewhere you control.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use PDFChest to store or process material you have no right to hold, or in any way that breaks the law where you live.

7. Disclaimer

The app is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. In particular, on-device text recognition is a convenience and is not guaranteed to be accurate: always check an extracted amount, date, or deadline against the original document before relying on it. Reminders depend on iOS notification delivery and should not be treated as the only safeguard for a return window or warranty expiry.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or a missed deadline, arising out of your use of or inability to use the app.

9. Changes

These terms may be updated as the app changes. The effective date at the top will change when they do, and continued use after that date means you accept the revision.
